People living close to the stricken Fukushima nuclear powerplant, not trusting government statistics, are publishing their own: sending their radiation level measurements, taken with commonly available radiation detectors, to sites such as RDTN.org  and JapanStatus.org

Yet another way the online community brings power to the people. Or not, tragically, in Fukushima.
