Marc Nohr, CEO of Kitcatt Nohr Digitas, is one of fourteen UK advertising and marketing agency chiefs participating in an inspirational study tour of the West Coast of the USA from the 7th November.
Nicola Mendelsohn, President of advertising industry trade body and professional institute, the IPA, will lead the interactive mission, which has the support of UK Government (UK Trade & Investment) and Consulates in San Francisco and Los Angeles. The purpose of the mission is to present the UK as a creative and innovation partner for West Coast tech and entertainment companies as well as a marketing hub for international expansion.
The IPA hopes to present its findings from the mission to the UK Government’s Tech City Investment Organisation, and to offer industry help to deliver the Government’s hi-tech vision for Shoreditch and the Olympic Parks.
Other agencies taking part are 23red, Addiction Worldwide, Albion, BBH, BJL Group, Euro RSCG, Initiative, Karmarama, Leo Burnett, M&C Saatchi, MBA, MyAgency and Sapient Nitro.
The delegation will be visiting America’s largest search, social networking and creative tech companies including Twitter and Zynga, and leading Hollywood studios Walt Disney, Warner Bros and Twentieth Century Fox among others.
Says Nicola Mendelsohn, IPA President and Executive Chairman and Partner, Karmarama: “My Presidential agenda focuses on us being creative pioneers for our digital future. Our position in the world market relies upon us continuing to innovate in creativity. We must reach out to other creative clusters –to the film industry in LA and the tech companies in Silicon Valley - to create new collaborations, and exchange ideas. With the Government’s help in developing this mission for us we can make this a reality. And we hope that Tech City can become a second home and strategic hub for West Coast tech companies looking to go global."
The mission is part of a larger, ongoing strategic initiative by UK Trade and Investment in California, first launched in 2009, to showcase UK excellence and innovation in interactive content and technology.
The trip will run from the 7th-11th November. You can follow the trail on the daily blog.
