Digitas has announced the appointment of Simon Calvert, formerly of Draftfcb, to lead worldwide strategic planning. Calvert will serve as Worldwide Head of Strategic Planning and will report to Mark Beeching, Worldwide Chief Creative and Strategy Officer for Digitas. He started the role earlier this month and will be based in London.

Calvert joins Digitas with over 20 years of brand, advertising, digital, CRM and media experience. Prior to Digitas, Calvert served as Global Chief Planning Officer and Executive Strategy Director at Draftfcb. Calvert has held previous positions at Proximity, Carat, Michaelides & Bednash, Euro RSCG, Saatchi & Saatchi and McCann Erickson.

“Simon brings strong global experience to Digitas at an exciting time in our international growth,” said Beeching. “Simon is a great innovator and collaborator. He is a master of smart new approaches to digital listening and customer understanding and has the gift of turning all that intelligence into practical inspiration for teams. His appointment is an excellent fit with our client partners and the Digitas obsession with people, brands, relationships and measureable market impact.”

At Draftfcb, Simon led the team of strategists that was key to winning the $700m Beiersdorf-owned global NIVEA account from TBWA in 96 countries. He also led teams behind key marquee clients, including Motorola, General Motors and SC Johnson.
