I am not easily scared. I sleep calmly with the lights off. I can look a clown in the eye without breaking a sweat. The other day I even picked up a spider with my bare hands and flung it out of the 5th storey window!

But this morning I was absolutely terrified.

As any good horror movie it started fairly innocently. I just got a minor chill down my spine when I read that geocentrists set up a conference to  to discuss the 'detailed and comprehensive treatment of the scientific evidence supporting Geocentrism, the academic belief that the Earth is immobile in the center of the universe'.

Scared enough? Well if you are not, try this for size:

When asked if the Earth is in the center of the universe 67% of Britons answered correctly, 19% answered incorrectly, and 14% didn't know!

This morning when I entered the packed tube and had my fellow men firmly pressed against me, I realized: 14% of these apparently sentient beings have not even once thought about their place in the universe.

Not once. Very very scary.
