Where else in the developed world can you get a delicious and healthy takeaway lunch for £2.66?
There are many critics of London and I can see why. On the surface of it London is a big, foul smelling, expensive place and the people are all rude. After being in London for a while, if you're not ignorant you'll quickly learn that those things are all largely untrue.
Central London may be daunting at first but you quickly learn that the tube isn't worth bothering with and the best mode of transport is your two feet. After you've had a decent dopiaza, kofte, pho, yum cha, katsu and salt beef beigel you realise that those are not smells but scents to be savoured. Seeing as the large majority of people that live and work in Central London are originally from somewhere else I propose the idea that it's not Londoners that are rude but everyone else. Or rather that they feel they have to be to get by in the big bad city.
Lastly I think I've proven that London isn't all that expensive by my very reasonable lunch. The rent and property values may be a bit silly but they're going to be aren't they? Property is going to be expensive in the best city in the world.

Ignorance is bliss...
I couldn't agree more with your love for London, and what better place to start than with some economically priced sushi. Coming from rip off Ireland, I think that London is the land of a good bargain, and if you can be bothered to put in the extra effort and walk a little off the beaten track that is what you will find. With White Cross St market only a stones throw from the office, it's pretty safe to say that we all have quite a cultured palette at a fraction of the price. With so many markets dotted around London, to cater for all needs, what's not to love. So Kevin I salute you, let's pay no heed to those who are rude and trample through London crushing all in their midst, we all know that secretly they are just in a hurry to get their hands on a good bargain!

And for those that do not mind paying the "little" extra...
You can simply go to Ottolenghi and pay £15 for a small box of sallad. Whoever said "the best things in life are free" had not heard of, nor tasted the most exclusive (read expensive) sallad in N1.
