'It just works'

It may have escaped your attention, but Apple did something significant yesterday. It admitted that MobileMe wasn't very good. Actually, Steve Jobs went further than that. He described it as 'not our finest hour.' 

But did that put Apple off? Did it 'eckers like. Which is the reason for the other significant thing they did yesterday: launching iCloud.

As Mr Jobs said at the Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco, they have learned a lot from MobileMe. So much that they have rewritten all the content, and created a new way to keep all your Mac devices in sync.

According to Apple, iCloud will automatically store your content, and wirelessly communicates it to all of your devices. What's more, it integrates with all of your apps, and it all happens automatically. 

Indeed, Mr Jobs claims: 'it just works.'

Well, it all sounds too good to be true doesn't it. And I've got my fingers crossed for a simpler life to come. But I suppose we should try telling that to some of the people who bought a Time Machine...
